A 22-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon in a shooting incident in Wilmington's Eastlawn section, police said.
Ryjee Pinkney was identified later Saturday night by police as the man killed in the shooting.
Police said the shooting happened after 2:30 p.m. in the area of 35th and Locust streets. Pinkney was taken to local hospital and died there, police said.
More than a dozen shell casings were visible at the scene. A car on the scene had what appeared to be at least seven bullet holes in it, one in the driver's window and six in the window behind it.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Brandon Mosley at (302) 576-3646.
Pinkney is the 167th person shot and 29th shooting fatality in Wilmington this year. The number of people shot in Wilmington so far this year is the second-highest recorded by Delaware Online/The News Journal since the newspaper began tracking shootings in 2011. The city of about 72,000 people saw a record 197 people shot, 32 fatally, in 2017.
