5 men arrested following drug raid in Rosegate home

New Castle County Police arrested five men this week following a drug raid in Rosegate.


In the month of January, detectives began an investigation into two brothers, 28-year-old Dakevis Reed and 41-year-old Dawann Reed. During the course of the investigation, police said they learned the men were operating an illegal drug operation in their family's home on Rose Lane.


The home was also a place local drug dealers would gather and sell products, police said.


Police raided the home on Feb. 11, where they said they found 15.2 grams of crack cocaine, 8.4 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia for packaging crack cocaine, a loaded .380 handgun, three firearm magazines, $877 and different types of ammunition.


They arrested several men, including:


Dawaan Reed, 41, charged with drug dealing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, maintaining a drug property and tampering with evidence. He was released after posting $45,400 secured bail.


Dakevis Reed, 28, charged with drug dealing, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, maintaining a drug property and tampering with evidence. He was also found to be wanted by New Castle County Police for assault. He was released after posting $45,600 secured bail.


Derwin Evans, 31, charged with drug dealing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and tampering with evidence. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. He was held in lieu of $44,500 cash bail.


Tyrone Gardner, 20, charged with drug dealing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and tampering with evidence. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. He was held in lieu of $43,100 cash bail.


Vernon Clark, 21, charged with drug dealing, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. He was held in lieu of $65,600 cash bail.
