A Wilmington woman didn't let the fact that her boyfriend was driving stop her from escalating an argument into a full-on fight in the middle of the road on Christmas Eve, police say.
The two were traveling on Del. 9 west of Georgetown in Sussex County on the afternoon of Dec. 24 when they began having an argument, Delaware State Police said. Tammy L. White, 47, then began punching her 49-year-old boyfriend, who almost crashed the vehicle then stopped in the middle of the road, police said.
When the man started driving again, White began punching him again and then stabbed him in the neck with a pen, police said. He stopped again and flagged down another driver to call 911.
Emergency medical workers took the man to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said they searched the vehicle and found White had drugs without a prescription, as well as drug paraphernalia.
She was charged with felony second-degree assault, felony first-degree reckless endangering, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription.
White was held in the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,100 secured bail.
