Bill Withers passes away at 81

Bill Withers known for his songs 'Lean on me', 'Ain't no sunshine', and many other soundtracks passed away Friday April 3rd. He passed away because of "Heart complications"

His legacy will not however, His soundtracks were used in many movies since 1971, making Bill Withers a household name.

Mr.Withers released 8 studio albums 1 live album and received 3 Grammys between 1971 & 1989 a big feat; many people do not even see 1 grammy in their whole career.

Bill Withers was born July 3, 1938 in Fork, West Virginia, youngest of 6 children had over come a stutter, and after his father passed when he was only 13 was the reason he enlisted in the Military. After serving for some odd years he relocated to Los Angles to pursue his music career in 1967.

In 1971 he signed to Sussex records.

He released multiple albums during this time, and continued to grow in popularity during this time songs like "lean on me" would be used in Morgan Freemans "Lean on me" which released in 1989 gained Withers more populatiry.

Sussex Records went into bankruptcy and went Withers to Columbia records, starting on a new leaf.

His music has been sampled by artists such as Will Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Dr.Dre the black eyed peas and many many more.

His inspiration & talent to so many people around the world has gotten him inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of fame in 2015 by Stevie Wonder.

“I’m not a virtuoso, but I was able to write songs that people could identify with. I don’t think I’ve done bad for a guy from Slab Fork, West Virginia,” Withers toldRolling Stone that same year."
