Man and woman hospitalized after being shot in Wilmington's Bayard Square neighborhood Sunday.

A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were shot in Wilmington's Bayard Square neighborhood early Sunday morning, according to Wilmington police.

Both were taken to the hospital in "stable" condition, police said. 


The shooting occurred at 3:12 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Du Pont St., police said. Police said an investigation is ongoing and further details "will be released when possible."

The shooting came days after five people were shot in Wilmington neighborhoods north of the Brandywine over a 12-hour stretch Thursday evening into Friday morning. Since Thursday, police agencies across the state have investigated five shootings involving eight victims. Police have not reported any deaths.
