A 24-year-old man has been charged with killing the mother of his child Sunday morning, Dover Police said.
Dover officers received a call about a a possible domestic situation going on between a man and three children at the Wawa store, located at 1450 Forrest Ave., about 5:35 a.m.
Arriving officers met with Aaron Garnett Jr. who provided a false name and different statements as to why he was in the area with the children.
Officers then responded to a residence in the first block of Willis Road, based on information they obtained from the early investigation, said Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman, a police spokesman.
Once there, officers found 23-year-old Naquita Hill who was suffering major injuries to her upper body, Hoffman said. She was pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived.
"Based on the early findings of the investigation, it was determined that Garnett and Hill were involved in an altercation that resulted in her death as a the result of Garnett physically assaulting her during that altercation," Hoffman said.
Garnett has been charged with first-degree murder, he said.
Hill and Garnett had one child in common, Hoffman said. The other children were being cared for by Hill for another family member.
"All three children are now in the care of a trusted relative," Hoffman said.
Bond information was unavailable at time of press release.
