Man shot in Wilmington Friday night; victim total from 2019 matched

A 25-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot Friday night in Wilmington's Hilltop neighborhood, police said.

Wilmington Police said the incident occurred at approximately 11:17 p.m. in the 1100 block of W. Second Street. The man was transported to an area hospital, and no other information was available.

The shooting marks the 114th victim of gunfire in the city this year, matching the total for all of 2019. It has been the most violent year in Wilmington since 2017. Fifteen people have been killed.
