Multiple crashes in Delaware forced road closures throughout the afternoon Saturday.
The I-95 south ramp to Del. 141 was closed due to a crash, according to the Delaware Department of Transportation. The crash occurred around 3:10 p.m.
Significant delays were experienced on I-95 between Newport and Wilmington, according to DelDOT. The was also a backup in the north lanes of Del. 141. The crash was cleared shortly before 4:30 p.m.
Earlier in the afternoon, U.S. 13 was closed for about 30 minutes just north of I-495 due to a crash, according to DelDOT. The ramp from I-495 south to U.S. 13 was also closed.
This earlier crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. The road reopened after the wreck was cleared at about 1:40 p.m.
Multiple firetrucks and state police responded to the scene of the crash near the U.S. 13 and I-495 interchange. At least three vehicles were stopped at the scene of the crash.
A crash on Del. 1 south of Milford closed both north and south lanes beginning around 1:20 p.m., according to Delaware State Police. The crash occurred on Del. 1 in the area of Pine Haven Road. All south lanes and one north lane of Del. 1 remain closed near the crash as of 4:30 p.m., according to DelDOT.
The right north lane of Del. 896 is closed at Del. 71 due to a crash, according to DelDOT. The crash occurred around 4:25 p.m.
Northern Delaware spent much of the morning and early afternoon under a dense fog advisory, limiting road visibility according to the National Weather Service.
NWS advises drivers to slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance between cars if driving through dense fog.
