One killed in double shooting in Rosegate, near New Castle

A 29-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon during a double shooting in the community of Rosegate, near New Castle.


New Castle County Police were called to the 100 block of Rose Lane at about 2:04 p.m., a spokesman for the department said. Two people were shot, the 29-year-old and another male juvenile, who is in critical condition.


Police said when they arrived on scene they learned the two had been taken to an area hospital.


At least seven patrol vehicles responded to the scene. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and they are still gathering information.


The shooting came less than an hour after a 28-year-old man was killed in

Wilmington. He was shot in the 300 block of East 23rd Street.


Police have released little information about that shooting. There's no word on whether the two incidents are connected.
