A 47-year-old Seaford man was seriously injured Monday night after being hit by a pickup truck that then fled the scene, Delaware State Police said.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Middleford Road, west of Old Furnace Road in Seaford. Police said the victim was walking on the edge of the road when, for an "unknown reason," he walked into the road.

He was then hit by a light blue Ford Ranger pickup truck, which veered off the road and hit a guide wire and wooden fence. The truck then drove away, police said.

Troopers are currently searching for the truck, which they said will likely have front damage. They are also asking anyone with information about the crash or the truck driver to call Delaware State Police Trooper Hunter Raymond at 302-337-1090.

Tipsters can also submit information through crime stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
