Police found woman in car with gunshot wound

A 39-year-old woman was hospitalized after being shot early Saturday in Georgetown, according to Delaware State Police. 

The shooting occurred at 3:56 a.m. in the 100 block of Garden Circle, police said. Emergency personnel found the woman in an orange Toyota Tacoma with a gunshot wound. A bullet could have traveled through the front side passenger window of the car, as police said the window had what appeared to be gunshot damage.

The woman was taken to Sussex Bayhealth Hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital in "serious condition," according to police.

Police said they do not have a suspect and an investigation is ongoing.
