Police make arrest after Saturday morning shooting in Wilmington's Hilltop section

Wilmington police have made an arrest in connection to a Saturday morning shooting in the city's Hilltop section.

Police say 36-year-old Luis Torres shot a 46-year-old man just after 11:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of W. Fifth St., near Harrison Street.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

He became the sixth shooting victim in the city this week. Three of those victims were killed.

Police said Torres was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with felony assault and possession of a firearm during a felony. No other information was immediately available.

Torres was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court No. 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash-only bail.
