A third man who was shot Sunday afternoon at a New Castle-area apartment complex was found dead by Maryland State Police near College Park later that night, police said.
The day's events unfolded around 3 p.m. when New Castle County police were called to Sophia’s Place Apartments for reports of the shooting.
When officers arrived on scene, they were told that two 19-year-old men had been taken to a local hospital by private car. They'd been shot in their upper bodies.
At the hospital, the men were listed in "stable condition."
Hours later, around 11:30 p.m., Maryland State Police troopers contacted New Castle County detectives about a third man, a 22-year-old whom police have not yet identified, who was found dead near College Park, Maryland.
The man had been driven to Maryland after being shot at Sophia’s Place Apartments earlier in the afternoon, police said. New Castle County police did not say who drove the man to Maryland.
Police have not given a motive for the shooting, nor have they said whether they have a suspect.
The Sunday afternoon shooting caps a bloody weekend in Delaware, which saw seven people injured, one fatally, by gunfire.
