Rockwood Apartments fire causes $80,000 of damage, displaces 6 people

A fire in the Rockwood Apartments near Pulaski Highway in Bear Sunday night displaced six people, according to a press release issued by the state fire marshal's office.

The fire was reported shortly before 6 p.m. in the 2800 block of Cindy Drive, according to the release. When firefighters arrived, flames were coming from the three-story apartment building, the release said.

There were no injuries, according to the release.

The fire caused $80,000 of damage, according to state fire investigators. They are still searching for the fire's origin and cause.

The six displaced people were from four different apartment buildings, and two apartment buildings were without power Sunday night, the release said. The Red Cross is providing assistance.
