When troopers got to the area, police said, they saw Comegys in the left lane of U.S. 13, driving toward a red stop light at the intersection of Middleford Road. Comegys stopped "several feet" past the white line, then stayed stopped when the light turned green, police said.
After stopping Comegys in a nearby Popeyes parking lot — he drove around the entire building before stopping, police said — troopers determined Comegys was under the influence of drugs. He had previously been convicted five times of DUI.
