A 16-year-old boy was shot Wednesday in Wilmington's East Side section and is in stable condition, police said.
Wilmington Police said the shooting happened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of E. 8th Street. The teen was being treated at a local hospital.

The teen is the 168th person shot in Wilmington this year. The number of people shot in in the city so far this year is the second-highest recorded by Delaware Online/The News Journal since the newspaper began tracking shootings in 2011.
The city of about 72,000 people saw a record 197 people shot, 32 fatally, in 2017.
