Wilmington police arrested two 16-year-olds on gun charges following a Friday shooting that injured two other teens in Wilmington's Riverside neighborhood, police said Tuesday.
Around 6:37 p.m., police responded to the shooting on Jensen Drive. The victims were a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, who were both taken to the hospital in stable condition.
While on scene, officers said they saw two 16-year-old boys running from the area. They arrested the two and said they found a .40-caliber handgun on them.
The first suspect was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of resisting arrest. He was arraigned in New Castle Family Court and taken to New Castle County Detention Center on $8,500 secured bail.
The second suspect was charged with one count of possession of a firearm and one count of resisting arrest. He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and released after posting $6,000 secured bail.
The shooting remains under investigation, police said. Officials have not said whether they believe the teens who were arrested shot the other teens.
Fourteen minors have been shot so far in July in Wilmington.
