Three men suffered minor injuries after a suspect hit them with a gun during an early-morning home invasion in Newark, police said.
Newark Police were called to a home on New London Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. after receiving a 911 call about a home invasion that had just happened, department spokesman Lt. Andrew Rubin said.
The occupants of the home, five men, told responding officers that they had seen a dark colored sedan in the driveway, and one of the residents went outside to check it out.
When the victim approached the car, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and forced him into the house, while the other three suspects followed inside.
Once inside, the four suspects, all of whom were wearing masks, demanded money. The suspect with the firearm also hit three of the residents with the gun, causing minor cuts.
After taking money and other personal items, the suspects fled in the car, and the victims called 911.
EMTs evaluated the injured men, who did not want to be taken to the hospital. Police are now searching for the suspects, who are described only as four black men.
