A crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer slowed traffic on I-95 north near New Castle Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at the exit for Route 141 near Newport around 6:30 a.m.
Traffic is currently passing in the left two lanes of I-95. Police said delays are expected and drivers should seek alternate routes.
The tractor-trailer's bed completely turned over, spilling its cargo — dark orange metal beams — across the grass shoulder and the road. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Emergency workers are currently clearing debris and aim to reopen all lanes of I-95 as soon as possible. Police said the Airport Road off-ramp is expected to be closed for a "lengthy" amount of time.
