Emergency responders rescued two people from a sinking boat in the Delaware River near the C&D Canal on Monday afternoon, but authorities were still looking for a missing man.

Delaware City Fire Company received calls about the boat being in distress around 4:15 p.m., according to their live call log.

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control told the News Journal/Delaware Online the missing man is a 45-year-old from New Jersey.

There was no information on why the boat began sinking.

The United States Coast Guard, local fire departments and a Delaware State Police helicopter were in on the search too, DNREC said.
