Two shot Wednesday night in Wilmington's Price's Run, police say


Two men are in stable condition after being shot Wednesday night in Wilmington's Price's Run section, according to Wilmington Police.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. near the corner of 27th and Market streets, where police say they located a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old man who had suffered gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital, police said.

No other information was available.

The shooting Wednesday in Price's Run marked two consecutive nights with a shooting in the neighborhood north of Wilmington's downtown.

Tuesday night, a 24-year-old man was shot near 23rd and Carter streets. 

It has been a violent few months in Wilmington, but especially in Price's Run, where at least 10 people have been shot since mid-June.

The two shooting victims Wednesday night brought the total number of people shot in Wilmington this year over 100. Of the 101 people shot in Wilmington in 2020, 13 have died.

Only 2017 had more shooting victims (131) as of August 5 since Delaware Online/The News Journal started tracking gun violence in the city in 2011.

July was the most violent month on record in Wilmington.
