A 19-year-old man is in stable condition following a Thursday evening shooting in Wilmington's East Side section, the city's police department said Thursday night.
Police said the shooting occurred around 5:24 p.m. in the area of Eighth and Pine streets. The man was located at the scene and transported to a local hospital, police said.
The shooting marked the second time in about 24 hours that a person was shot in the area. Wednesday, police said a 16-year-old boy was shot after 5 p.m. in the 500 block of E. 8th St., which is between Lombard and Pine streets.
No other information was available from the Thursday incident. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Charles Puit at (302) 576-3628.

The 19-year-old shot Thursday is the 169th person shot in Wilmington this year. The number of people shot in in the city so far this year is the second-highest recorded by Delaware Online/The News Journal since the newspaper began tracking shootings in 2011. The city of about 72,000 people saw a record 197 people shot, 32 fatally, in 2017.
