Wilmington shooting: Police arrest man in December killing

Wilmington Police on Monday arrested a 26-year-old man for the December shooting of 29-year-old Jaron Smullen.

On Dec. 3, police were dispatched around 4 p.m. to the 100 block of East 24th Street in reference to a shooting. Police found Smullen who was brought to the hospital, where he later died.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives identified Keith Talley as a suspect, police said.

On Friday, warrants were issued for Talley's arrest.

Talley was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.

He was sent to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution near Wilmington in lieu of $1,070,000 cash-only bail.
